The Office of Developmental programs (ODP) has held Statewide Employment Leadership Network (SELN) forums across the state. April is Autism Awareness Month and Nina Wall Cote, director, Bureau of Autism Services is presenting a lecture, “Autism Across the Life Span: From Diagnosis to Advocacy” on June 4 in Elkins Park.   • Announcement #029-13: SH/AIS Overview Webcast and User Guide. Updated version of the Supplemental Habilitation (SH) and Additional Individualized Staffing (AIS) Services User Guide version 5.0 and webcast are now available.
  • Informational Memo #030-13: Background Check Requirements under 55 PA Code Chapter 51. Background checks are required for staff providing any waiver services, with several exceptions (assistive technology, education support services, home accessibility adaptations, specialized supplies, vehicle accessibility adaptations).

  • Members addressing needs of transition age individuals should note that the Pennsylvania Department of Education has developed a Secondary Transition guide and web site (www.secondarytransition.org) to assist students and families navigate the transition process to adult life. It includes links to the adult service systems.
