IDD Updates – Week of April 29, 2013

The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) has issued Announcement #032-13: Vendor Fiscal/Employer Agent Forms Update. New forms for Support Service Worker Qualifications and Instructions and VF/EA Calculation Tool for Participant Directed Services have been updated at www.odpconsulting.net.
 

If members are interested in earning an online bachelor or master’s degree or graduate certificate in disability studies, CUNY School of Professional Studies is offering these fully accredited programs. Details are available at http://www.cuny.edu/about/administration/offices/hhs/disability-studies.html.

ANCOR, a national IDD provider association, has shared information which can assist agencies in developing policies and procedures related to health, safety, and emergency procedures. The General Employee Safety Manual provided by ANCOR’s Harleysville Property and Casualty Program may be used and customized for an agency’s specific needs. Members interested in a copy should contact Linda Drummond.

The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP), in cooperation with the Alliance for Full Participation and the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) is looking for volunteers to serve on a new subcommittee, “Focus on Individuals.” The subcommittee’s goal is to empower individuals and families to obtain community employment and increase the understanding of the benefits of employment and supports available. Those interested should contact Co-chairs Shirley Keith Knox (sknox@dauphinc.org) or Celia Feinstein (shoes100@temple.edu) by May 15. Linda Drummond is a member of this committee, the AFP/ODP/OVR Steering Committee, and subcommittees on Supports Coordination Outreach, Successful Transition, and System Change. Please let her know if you volunteer.

ODP Updates

  • Registration is open for the Bureau of Autism Services 6th Annual Training Conference, Delivering Autism Services in PA: Practical Strategies and Tools, June 11-13, Eden Resort, Lancaster. Registration information is available at www.solutionwhere.com/bastraining/cw/main.asp.
  • Presentation proposals for the Pennsylvania Disability Employment and Empowerment Summit will be accepted until May 10 (www.padesummit.org). The summit is October 23 – 25, Radisson Hotel, Camp Hill.
  • Staff Development Course May calendars for White Haven and Selinsgrove Centers have been released and courses are open to providers and families. Details are available from Roxanne Mayfield (rmayfield@pa.gov).
  • The Department of Public Welfare and the Bureau of Human Services Licensing have issued guidance for licensed providers that are required to have tuberculosis (TB) tests on staff and individuals regarding the nationwide shortage of TB skin test antigens.
