IDD Update

  • IDD Committee Co-chair Will Stennett, Family Services of Western Pennsylvania, is revising procedures based on the Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) bulletin on Surrogate Health Care Decision Making. He is interested in other agency recommendations on policies/procedures on this issue.   • A product showcase presenters, Talintel,  from the PCPA Technology Conference in March, is offering a web demonstration of its direct support professional pre-screening online assessment. This is open only to individuals that attended the Technology Conference.Members who did and are interested in this May 17 web cast should contact Jen Bankard  (jen@paproviders.org) at PCPA for details.
  • On May 2 the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue disseminated a press release which indicated the state has collected  $3.3 billion in General fund revenue in April; $273 million (9 percent) more than expected. For the fiscal year, general fund collections are $505 million above estimates. A copy of the press release, “Revenue Department Releases April Collections” is available at www.revenue.state.pa.us.
  • The US Department of Labor Office of Disability Employment Policy has announced that October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month and the theme in 2011 is “Profit by Investing in Workers with Disabilities.” The press release is available at www.dol.gov.
  • ODP recent information releases:
  • Announcement #059-11: Redesign of Supports Coordination Curriculum Website Access to Courses and Certificates; effective May 9.
  • Informational Packet #060-11: Administrative Fee Services Related to the Delivery of Vendor Services. Announces changes to vendor services and administrative procedure codes and offers instructions to providers of vendor services, SCOs, and AES related to work to be performed beginning in April. HCSIS functionality related to some of the changes will not be automated until the July HCSIS release. PROMISe changes have already been modified to support billing dates effective beginning July 1.
  • The Pennsylvania Community on Transition Conference is July 20-22 in State College and sponsored by the Departments of Public Welfare, Labor and Industry, Education, and Health and the Offices of Developmental Programs and Vocational rehabilitation.   • ODP has released Alert #061-11: Provider Action Needed to Support the Provider Monitoring Process. A separate alert will be sent to SCOs in the near future.
  • ODP requests that direct service providers complete a brief survey for ODP to collect contact information to support the Provider Monitoring process. The survey is available at www.zoomerang.com/Survey/WEB22C988KHLGK/ and must be completed by May 9.
