Art Work Needed
A local business has asked RCPA to reach out to members to assist in locating artwork and sculptures done by individuals with disabilities. They are interested in purchasing these items for display in their office. Members who know artists or have programs that develop artwork interested in learning more and assisting program participants in selling their work, please contact Policy Specialist Linda Drummond.

ODP Updates
The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) has released the following information:

  • Informational Packet #039-14: Vendor Fiscal/Employer Agent Financial Management Services Wage and Benefit Ranges for Specific Participant Directed Services Effective July 1, 2014.
  • Informational Packet #040-14: Agency with Choice Financial Management Services Wage Ranges and Benefit Allowance and Corresponding Department Established Fees for Specific Participant Directed Services Effective July 1, 2014.

DD Council
The Pennsylvania Developmental Disabilities (DD) Council has released its 2014 request for proposals booklet. The council’s priorities are in advocacy, systems change, and capacity building for people with developmental disabilities and their families.

Futures Planning
Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) Announcement #038-14 requests stakeholder assistance in the next research steps in the planning process. Members that have a document (e.g. assessment tool, study, managed care plan, pilot project description, list of quality measures) and would like to share with the ODP Implementation Team, please forward those documents by August 15 to a contact listed in the announcement. Please also copy Linda Drummond at RCPA.

Olmstead Anniversary
The 1999 Olmstead decision will recognize its 15th anniversary with a June 20 celebration event in Washington, DC. The decision requires states to offer people with disabilities to live in the least restrictive settings.

ODP Updates
ODP has released the following information:

  • Informational Packet #035-14: Waiver Service Claim Documentation and Remediation Process. Describes procedures for administrative entities and providers to use when aclaim documentation issue is identified
  • Announcement #036-14: ODP’s Quality Management Certification Program Leadership Resources Available. Modules 101 and 102 are available to all audiences
  • Announcement #037-14: DPW Medication Administration Updates and Clarifications. Additional clarifications regarding the medication administration courses shared in Announcement #022-14 and #004-14.

IM4Q Annual Training
The Independent Monitoring for Quality (IM4Q) program coordinated by the Temple University Institute on Disabilities has scheduled the annual statewide training for July 23 – 24 at the Harrisburg Hilton. Registration is open, special hotel rates are available, and the agenda is available. The keynote speaker is David Hingsburger who will address practical approaches to leading an increased quality of live in the community.

Licensing Staff
The Bureau of Human Services Licensing announces the appointment of Shelia Page as director of operations. She has been the western regional director for the last five years.
