IDD Update
August 7 and August 9, 2011

The Disability Rights Network (DRN) of Pennsylvania will have a new executive director, Mark Murphy, effective August 22. The current director, Ilene Shane, is retiring but will continue with DRN on a part-time basis.

  • Announcement #102-11: Now Available: ODP Provider and SCO Monitoring Websites. Provides details on accessing information on the new monitoring processes.
  • Announcement #103-11: ODP Provider and SCO Monitoring Process Webcasts and Registration Open for Follow-up Conference Calls. Three webcasts are now available for providers, support coordination organizations (SCOs), and Administrative Entitites. Provider monitoring questions may be directed to ra-odpprovidermonito@pa.gov; SCO monitoring questions may be directed to ra-odpscomonitoring@pa.gov.
  • Announcement #104-11: Enhancements to the OCS Help Desk. Several enhancements, including a new web page for the OCS Help Desk, became effective August 1. Help Desk email address ocs-odponlinehelp@odpconsulting.net.
  • Informational Memo #105-11: Responses to Questions and Minor Change to the Checklist for ISP Review and Approval of ISPs

ODP has released Announcement #106-11: Year 4 Cost Report Instructions and Template for Fiscal Year 2012-13. Year 4 cost report instructions and template for FY 2012/13 are targeted for release within two weeks. ODP does not anticipate major changes from the Year 3, FY 2011/12 cost report template or instructions. The due date for cost report submission will be November . Web-based trainings will be offered in the near future.

PCPA committee and board 2012 meeting dates and locations have been identified and are listed in the August issue of Provider News. Please note the change in location for all meetings and the June 13 and 14 meetings will be on a Wednesday and Thursday rather than the usual Tuesday committee meetings and Wednesday board meetings.

The week of September 11 will be recognized as Direct Support Professionals Recognition Week. PCPA has asked Governor Corbett to issue a proclamation in recognition of the dedicated staff providing daily supports to individuals with physical, developmental, and intellectual disabilities. PCPA will send information and resources to members with ideas, sample press releases, and sample proclamation to be used with county commissioners and mayors.

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month. This is a national campaign to raise awareness of disability employment issues and celebrates the contributions of workers with disabilities. The theme is “Profit by Investing in Workers with Disabilities.” Posters are available for download from www.disability.gov/employment/news_%26_events.
