IDD Update
August 8, 2012

Members should have received meeting notices for the September 18 IDD Committee and SCO Subcommittee meeting. PCPA’s new registration package now sends you a more personalized meeting notice indicating it is from a particular policy specialist. The IDD Committee meeting will also be available through webcast. Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) Deputy Secretary Friel will present on the ODP 2012/13 budget and give an update on the revised Chapter 51 Regulations.

The week of September 9 will be nationally celebrated as Direct Support Professional Recognition Week. PCPA has requested a state proclamation from the governor that will be shared when received. During the week of August 13 PCPA will send information on contacting local media and requesting county commissioners to participate in this recognition week.

The national association, ANCOR, which sponsors the national recognition week, is offering a free webinar on September 10, “Live Your Passion,” about Scott Trudo, who made a mid-life career change to become a Direct Support Professional. Registration is available at www.ancor.org/events/2012/09/live-your-passion.

ODP has released Announcement #065-12: Communication on Year 5 Cost Reports for Providers of ID Services. Agencies that provide fee schedule services only will not submit a Year 5 (2013/14) cost report. However, providers of waiver residential eligible and transportation trip cost-based services will be required to submit a Year 5 report. ODP will post cost report forms and instructions around August 31. Submission deadline will be on or about November 1 for residential eligible. A separate set of cost reports and instructions for transportation trip will be posted at a later date.
