IDD Updates - Week of August 19, 2013

The Department of Public Welfare (DPW) has released information regarding the Adult Protective Services Transition Process for handling protective services investigations for adults with disabilities. (attach here) The process will be in effect until regulations (which are under development) are finalized and an adult protective services vendor is selected. Linda Drummond participates on the regulations work group. The Adult Protective Services Act (Act 70 of 2010) created this program for those with disabilities between the ages of 18 to 59 with DPW as the designated administrative component. The act covers individuals who are adult residents with physical or mental impairment that limits one or more major life activities. Questions on the current process may be directed to RA-PWARLHeadquarters@pa.gov.

ODP Announcement #065-13: ODP Year 6 Cost Report Training Registration. Web-based trainings will be offered September 11 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. or September 17 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.

The Pennsylvania Disability Employment and Empowerment Summit is October 23 – 25 at the Radisson Hotel, Camp Hill. This event brings together business leaders, service providers, government agencies, and people with disabilities to discuss current programs and services and to assist the business community to expand work options for persons with disabilities.

RCPA’s Supports Coordination Organization (SCO) Subcommittee meeting on September 5 has an agenda addition. Office of Developmental Programs Human Service Program Representative Bill Posavec will attend for discussion on the SCO’s role in incident management.

ODP Announcement #064-13: Vacancy Exception Request Form Training: August 26 at 1:00 p.m. Registration is required by August 22 at 4:00 p.m. The training will be recorded and posted to the Provider Information Center for future reference.

ANCOR is offering a free webinar to members on September 10 in recognition of Direct Support Professionals Recognition Week. “Communities Growing through Direct Support Professionals” will share successful strategies for meaningful inclusion for individuals served and its impact on community building.
