IDD Update

ODP Updates
The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) has provided the following information.

  • ODP Budget Presentation for FY 2014/15: A PowerPoint and recording of the September 5 discussion is available.
  • Announcement #064-14: ISP Monitoring 2014 Course Now Available. This is for supports coordination required training and professional development for AE and provider staff.
  • Announcement #065-14: ODP is Seeking Input from Direct Services Intellectual Disability Providers. ODP is designating a mailbox to assist providers in being up-to-date on the latest changes in policies and best practices. The mailbox will remain open until October 6 for stakeholders to submit recommendations which will assist in developing trainings. The mailbox is RA-PWODP_PROVDRTRNG@pa.gov.
  • Lifesharing Conference Registration has been extended to September 24. See IDD Update September 4 for links to conference information and registration.

Health Care Checklist
The Pennsylvania Department of Health has developed a guide for youth and families with special health care needs to assist them through the transition process from school to adult services. The “Transition to Adult Living in Pennsylvania: Transition Health Care Checklist” includes resources such as health care, education, agency services and benefits. The checklist was developed in conjunction with various state agencies, advocates, and families and is available at www.health.state.pa.us/transitionchecklist.

Trainings and Resources

  • October 7 – 10. RCPA Conference, TOGETHER…ONE. Seven Springs Mountain Resort. Details, registration, and the schedule are available.
  • October 1 – 2. Law Enforcement Training Conference featuring Law Enforcement Disability Awareness Train the Trainer Program. Saratoga Springs, NY. Providers may want to share this information with local law enforcement to help build working relationships and share the importance of understating issues when dealing with citizens with disabilities.
  • October 8. Integrated Health and Dual Diagnosis regional training provided by Philadelphia Coordinated Health Care and offered at Delaware County Intermediate Unit, Morton.
