ODP Update
The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) has released Announcement #070-14: ODP Year 7 Cost Report Training Audio Replay/PowerPoint Presentation. The materials are available from the ODP Provider Information Center.

Your Voice Matters
Lehigh Valley Center for Independent Living is sponsoring “Your Voice Matters,” a cross-disability forum at the Giant Community Center, Camp Hill October 20. This event is for the entire disability community including individuals, caregivers, support staff, and providers. The following questions are posed for the forum:

  • Can a cross-disability movement ever successfully represent all people with all types of disabilities?
  • For example, are the issues that affect people who are blind really the same issues that affect people who use wheelchairs?
  • How about people with intellectual disabilities?
  • What is the disability community and who comprises it?
  • What unites or divides the disability community?

Disability Employment Summit
The American Association of People with Disabilities is sponsoring its 2014 Disability Employment Summit October 13-15 at Heinz Field, Pittsburgh.

Dual Diagnosis Trainings
Philadelphia Coordinated Health Care is offering a variety of Pennsylvania Dual Diagnosis Direct Support Curriculum trainings in the Philadelphia area in October and December. Information is available at www.pchc.org. Session are free and include:

  • October 28 – Common Medications and Side Effects
  • October 28 – Intellectual Disabilities and Psychiatric Disorders
  • December 12 – Role of Everyday Lives and Recovery
  • December 12 – Communicating with the Psychiatrist

The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) has released the following information.  

  • Announcement #066-14: Required 2014 SC Statewide Training Face to Face, Instructor-Led. ODP required trainings in October and November held at 13 locations across the state. Participants will receive six hours of training credit. According to ODP staff attending the RCPA Supports Coordination Organizations (SCO) Subcommittee meeting on September 18, there are still a number of openings at all locations. Members hearing that the site they wish to attend is full should contact Policy Specialist Linda Drummond to resolve the issue with ODP.
  • Announcement #067-14: ODP and OCDEL in Planning Phase to Modify TCM/TSM Functionality. A decision has been made to remove the current case management billing functionality in HCSIS. Providers will be required to submit claims for services directly to PROMISe. SCOs will continue to record service notes and manage timely TCM/TSM data directly into HCSIS.
  • Announcement #068-14: PA Department of Public Welfare Medication Administration Program Planned Interruption of Service. From October 10 – October 14 at 8:00 a.m. the online student course will be unavailable in order to complete updates to examinations that students must complete as part of the course.
  • Announcement #069-14: Free SELN Employment Trainings for SCs. The State Employment Leadership Network is offering three webinars focusing on employment outcomes for people with developmental disabilities. This series is available at no cost to supports coordinators. The first webinar is September 23 at 3:00 p.m. Additional webinars are October 30 and December 2.
