Call for Proposals
The annual Philadelphia Regional Conference on Development Disabilities: It’s All in the Family: Siblings Roles Across the Life Span, is May 8, 2015, at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Planners are requesting conference proposals; submissions are due December 12. Topics include advocacy, alternative therapies, approaches to individuals with challenging behaviors, assistive technology/equipment, dual diagnosis, education, employment, inclusive programs and practices, and public policy. Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) Update
ODP has released the following information.

  • Informational Packet #086-14: Release of Benjamin Website and Transition Process Workflow Helping Individuals Transition to Community Residency.

Deaf-Blind Services
Governor Corbett has issued a press release announcing a pilot grant to help provide Support Services Providers (SSPs) for persons who are deaf-blind. The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation and Office for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing have partnered with the Pennsylvania Statewide Independent Living Council to fund this statewide program. This $425,000 grant will expand the pool of trained SSPs available to work with these individuals.

Money Follows the Person
Mathematica has released a Money Follows the Person report, The Changing Medical and Long-Term Care Expenditures of People Who Transition from Institutional Care to Home and Community-Based Services.” ┬áThe emphasis of the report is on Medicaid beneficiaries who make such a transition.
