RCPA - Rehabilitation and Community Providers Association

IDD Update
November 7, 2011

The White House Disability Group indicates agencies need to be prepared for November 9 first test of the Nationwide Emergency Alert System. At 2:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time an announcement will appear on every TV and radio channel indicating the Emergency Alert System has been activated. There will be an audio message and a visual message indicating “This is Only a Test,” but not all TVs may be able to display the visual message. You do not have to take any action.

PCPA serves on several restructured Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) committees being implemented in cooperation with the national Alliance for Full Participation. The Supports Coordination Organization (SCO) Subcommittee of this initiative is seeking one SCO and one direct service provider of employment services to volunteer to assist in developing trainings and recommendations related to employment for persons with intellectual disability. Please let Linda Drummond know (linda@paproviders.org) of interest in serving on this subcommittee.

  • Informational Memo #153-11: Billing Bed Reservation Days Effective November 15, 2011. ODP has determined that it will provide reimbursement for any combination of medical and therapeutic leave up to a maximum of 60 calendar days per fiscal year with no exception process, regardless of service location and/or providers. The 60 days accumulation period begins November 15, 2011 through June 30, 2012. All bed reservation days will be paid at 100 percent of eligible residential habilitation and 100 percent of ineligible residential habilitation. Any questions may be directed to ra-odpclaimsres@pa.gov. PCPA has asked for clarification regarding instances where the individual is not able to move back into his/her residential program and are over the 60 days. Will this be considered a residential vacancy and the AE and Regional ODP can refer a new consumer to the provider to fill this vacancy?
