SELN Report
The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) released its report on the State Employment Leadership Network (SELN) assessment of the employment service delivery system. The information gathering process included internal assessment of all ODP policies, practices, and contractual methodology. Surveys were sent and focus group meetings held with individuals, families, and stakeholders across the state. The SELN Findings and Observations Report summarizes the results of this process and will be used to develop a work plan to improve integrated employment outcomes for persons with disabilities.

Stakeholder input may be shared as this work plan is developed as part of the Futures Planning process. Access to these documents will also be available under Futures Planning Key Documents beginning November 14.

Assistive Technology Month
Governor Corbett and the Pennsylvania Senate have recognized November as Assistive Technology Awareness Month. The Governor’s Proclamation recognizes the importance of assistive technology devices to increase, maintain, or improve the capabilities of individuals with disabilities and older citizens.

Senate Resolution 244 states that Pennsylvania is a leader in the development and implementation of assistive technology programs for its citizens and allows many individuals to live independently and productively in the community.

ODP Sheltered Workshops Meeting

On November 1, ODP Deputy Secretary Lokuta met with executives from sheltered workshops for a conversation on the future of employment services and identifying business practices now and for the future. Discussion included where we are, where we can go, and how to get there. This group will continue to meet to address a variety of issues specific to sheltered workshops, prevocational supports, and community employment options for individuals. Minutes of the meeting are available.
