Managed Care Forum
The National Council on Disability is holding a “Medicaid Benefits and Medicaid Managed Care Forum” December 12, beginning at 9:00 am at Liberty Resources, Philadelphia, to discuss planning and implementation of Medicaid Managed Care. Topics will include Healthy PA, a federal update, and trends Across the US on managed care.

Webinar Recording
The Arc US’ recent webinar, “The Importance of Future Planning: Supporting Aging Caregivers and Individuals with I/DD” is available by recording and PowerPoint slides.

ASERT Newsletter
The Bureau of Autism Services December Autism Services, Education, Resources and Training (ASERT) newsletter is available.

Pennsylvania Partnership
The Pennsylvania Training Partnership for People with Disabilities and Families will no longer provide training or technical assistance for families and self-advocates after December 31. This project consisted of the Temple University Institution on Disabilities, Mentors for Self Determination, Vision for Equality, Self Advocates United as 1, and Achieva. The Office of Developmental Programs has contracted with a new vendor to provide training, mentoring, and supported leadership beginning in January 2015. The new vendor can be reached by contacting Lisa Meyer.

CLS Provider Handbook
The RCPA Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Committee meeting on December 4 featured an update on the Certification and Licensing System (CLS), presented by the Bureau of Human Services Licensing. The most recent copy of the CLS Provider Handbook covers access to the HCSIS provider portal, certification assessment, adding a new location, and the renewal application.

ODP Update
The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) has issued the following information.

  • Announcement #093-14: Core Functions of Risk Management Course: 3-credit hour course includes identifying factors, prevention strategies, monitoring and reporting.
  • ODP will publish its Home and Community Based Services Waiver Transition Plan for public comment in the December 20 Pennsylvania Bulletin.

ODEP Webinar
The US Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) is co-hosting a webinar, “Expanding What It Means to be Accessible: Addressing the Workplace Technology Needs of Users with Cognitive Disabilities,” on December 11 at 2:00 p.m.
