ODP Futures Planning
The December meeting of the Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) Futures Planning Extended Team focused on discussion regarding the “Futures Planning Implementation Proposal,” which was developed with stakeholder and public input. “Today’s Vision..Tomorrow’s Reality” was founded on the mission of supporting individuals with developmental disabilities to achieve greater independence, choice, and opportunity in their lives. The vision is to continuously improve an effective system of accessible services and supports that are flexible, innovative, and person-centered. The implementation proposal was presented to Department of Public Welfare Secretary Bev Mackereth by several self-advocate team members.

ASERT Trainings
The ASERT Eastern Region Adult Clinic project consists of comprehensive, multidisciplinary case conferences with providers on adults with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The provider presents a case for assessment and diagnosis, behavior management, medication management, and/or transition planning. This project is intended to educate provider agencies about the use of evidence-based therapies for adults on the autism spectrum, which include behavioral supports and medication selection and effects.

Participation in this project is free of charge and follow-up case conferences to help ensure ongoing support for providers are available. The ASERT adult clinic project is available in person for Philadelphia-area providers and by telemedicine for providers throughout Pennsylvania. For information about consultation services, please contact Lauren Tucker, ASERT Support Coordinator.

Job Development Certificate
George Washington University (GWU) is offering an educational online training providing a 12-credit hour program leading to a “Job Developmental and Job Placement Certificate” for rehabilitation professionals working to place consumers with disabilities into employment environments. Students may also apply for scholarship funding through the GWU Rehabilitation Counseling Program. For additional information contact Project Coordinator Trisha Makovsky
