Recruitment and Retention Plan Deadline Extended
September 29, 2001

The deadline for the Local Recruitment and Retention Plans has been extended from November 1 to November 23. (That's the day after Thanksgiving.) The Department of Public Welfare changed this deadline due to feedback from providers and counties who wanted to attend the department's Best Practice Sessions before completing their plans.

This deadline extension is timely, as well, for the MH/MR Coalition Summit II: Planning and Working Together in 2002, Effective Approaches in Recruitment and Retention. The Summit will provide Executive Directors and management staff with an opportunity to learn about recruitment and retention policy formation and practical implementation strategies from national leaders. There will also be discussion of specific examples of Pennsylvania's county/provider planning processes. The Summit will be held October 30 at the Harrisburg Hilton and Towers in Harrisburg. Please call PCPA if you need additional brochures, with the registration forms.

The department's Best Practice Sessions will be held in locations throughout the state. Front line supervisors and middle management staff will benefit from hearing about recruitment and retention efforts in human services and other business arenas. PCPA will be mailing their brochures as soon as we receive them. If you would like a list of the sessions' dates and locations, and a registration form, please call PCPA.
