Medical Rehab

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recently notified providers in a COVID-19 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document that, beginning August 17, 2020, Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) will be resuming Medicare fee-for-service (FFS) medical review activities and audits. These audits had been placed on hold since March when the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE) went into effect. The MACs will only be reviewing claims from before March 1, 2020 and will not be conducting Target, Probe, and Educate (TPE) audits (which consist of multiple rounds). Instead, single-phase audits will be conducted.

Deadline, as Letters on a Clock

The RCPA member Alternative Pay Arrangements/Agreements (APA) survey has been extended to close of business Wednesday, August 12. Members may access the survey here.

The survey responses we have received so far have provided excellent insight, and we look forward to collecting additional thoughts by extending the survey. We respectfully request that one survey be completed for each program areas if the APAs differ across your service continuum. The data we collect will be instrumental in our collective efforts with the Department of Human Services and managed care organizations regarding strategic fiscal considerations in the coming months.

Thank you for your support! If you have questions, please contact RCPA Children’s Division Director Jim Sharp or your RCPA Policy Director.
