The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) has released a new five-part course on MyODP titled “Developing and Implementing Effective Skill Building Plans.” This training reviews the development of a Skill Building Plan with an example and digs deeper into the process. Skill Building Plans are an essential tool in community services because they are designed to provide a clear, individualized road map for helping people gain new abilities and becoming more independent. Skill Building Plans are designed to communicate and address the specific needs and goals of the person and ensure that the support provided is tailored to what matters most to the person; when they need that support; and in the way that best supports their learning and independence.
Completion of the “Introduction to Skill Building and Skill Building Basics” trainings are required before being able to access the training. It can be accessed at this link: Introduction to Skill Building.
The training can also be accessed at Developing and Implementing Effective Skill Building Plans or at the following navigation path: Topics > Individual Support Plan > Skill Building.
The course includes a 25-question post-test. Learners must obtain a score of 80% or higher (20 out of 25 correct responses) on the post-test to access a Certificate of Achievement.
