RCPA has published an updated position paper outlining community-based mental health services and school-based mental health partnerships. Governor Shapiro has once again proposed $100 million dollars in his budget for school mental health and safety, and RCPA has provided a blueprint for effective allocation, including a deepened partnership between schools and community providers.
A question regarding the proposed $100 million for school-based mental health was posed in the DHS Senate budget hearing, specifically concerning the lack of collaboration between existing community providers and the schools. RCPA will be sharing this position statement with the Senators who voiced their concern on the matter.
RCPA would like to thank its School-Based Behavioral Health Committee for their partnership in drafting this position paper and for their continued advocacy for student mental health.
