ODP Medication Administration Training

ODP Announcement 19-108 communicates upcoming dates for face to face classroom sessions for the Medication Administration training. Additionally, this announcement communicates the completion of the Medication Administration System transition and provider access to the new system. The mandatory transition to the sole use of online training has been extended; a new deadline has not yet been determined.

Face to face classes have been scheduled throughout PA in various counties beginning August 27, 2019 through December 2019. Please see the ODP Announcement for more details and registration information. The face to face class is required for new trainers as well as for recertifying trainers.

ODP Announcement 19-109 provides updates to the schedule of virtual trainings and virtual office hours available in September 2019. Virtual training opportunities include Vocational Assessments for AAW/ACAP Vocational Assessment Providers, and Goals and Objectives training for AAW and ACAP SCOs and Providers.

Virtual office hours will be available with the Deaf Services Coordinator to answer any questions professionals in the field may have.

The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) has sent a reminder regarding the Medication Administration Scheduled Outage and Critical Date Extension.

Important infrastructural changes to the Medication Administration Training Program will take place June 28, 2019 through Friday, August 9, 2019, which will cause an outage. Working on the system during this outage could cause work to be lost.

This outage will impact Agency/Entity Administrators, Medication Administration Primary Contacts, Agency/Entity Training Directors, and Existing/Prospective Medication Administration Trainers employed by one of the following applicable Department of Human Services (DHS) or Department of Aging licensed environments:

  • Chapter 2380: Adult Training Facilities
  • Chapter 2390: Vocational Facilities
  • Chapter 2600: Personal Care Homes
  • Chapter 2800: Assisted Living
  • Chapter 3800: Child Residential and Day Treatment Facilities
  • Chapter 6400: Community Homes for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities that serve eight or fewer individuals
  • Chapter 6600: Intermediate Care Facilities for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities that serve eight or fewer individuals
  • Chapter 6600: Intermediate Care Facilities for Other Related Conditions that serve eight or fewer individuals
  • Title 6 Aging, Chapter 11: Adult Day Services

ODP Announcement 19-050 serves to inform all interested parties about several critical changes and upcoming dates. The June 30, 2019 deadline for the mandatory transition to online training has been extended. This extension is to allow for completion and review of upcoming changes and enhancements to the system. A new deadline will be set at a future date.

Important infrastructural changes to the Medication Administration Training Program will take place June 28, 2019 through Friday, August 9, 2019, which will cause an outage on all websites related to Medication Administration Training. The outage is scheduled to begin at 12:00 am Friday, June 28. Working on the system during this outage could cause work to be lost.

After the outage has concluded you will be able to use the above links to learn how to access the updated sites.

Students should begin the online Medication Administration Course no later than June 14, 2019. Students must successfully complete the online course and all online quizzes and exams by 5:00 pm on June 27. Anyone not finished by that time will lose access to coursework until the course re-opens on August 9, 2019. Certified trainers will be able to continue to request the paper exam and the manual links to the course during this outage. Submit your requests to this email address.

Train the Trainer classes will be offered this summer. The trainer candidate will need to finish the Train the Trainer courses prior to 5:00 pm on June 27 in order to register for July or early August classes.
