Mental Health America, in collaboration with Johnson & Johnson, presented a webinar discussing how the behavioral health landscape is redefining how we talk about, care for, and support people living with challenging-to-treat depression.

Three critical areas explored are:

  • Why language matters: Moving beyond “depression” as a catch-all and using real, specific language that empowers patients rather than reinforce stigma.
  • Redefining what success looks like: Unpacking what functional remission actually means and why we should set some recovery expectations for treatment-resistant depression (TRD) as we do for any other disease.
  • Breaking down barriers to care: Examining how earlier recognition and patient-centered decision-making can restore hope, from diagnosis challenges to the power of patient advocacy.

This webinar is beneficial for healthcare providers, patients, caregivers, and advocates to discuss practical insights on how clear communication and empowerment can help people living with depression. The webinar can be viewed here.
