As Direct Support Professional (DSP) Recognition Week (September 13–19, 2026) approaches, RCPA proudly recognizes the thousands of dedicated DSPs serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities across the Commonwealth. Their compassion, professionalism, and unwavering commitment make it possible for people to live meaningful lives in their homes and communities every day. Whether providing personal care, fostering independence, supporting employment and community participation, or simply being a trusted source of reassurance, DSPs are the foundation of Pennsylvania's IDD service system. RCPA extends its sincere gratitude to these remarkable professionals and thanks them for the countless ways they enrich the lives of those they support. We also encourage our members to take time throughout the week to celebrate and recognize the extraordinary contributions of their DSP workforce. RCPA also thanks Governor Josh Shapiro for recognizing the invaluable contributions of Direct Support Professionals through his proclamation designating September 13–19, 2026, as Direct Support Professional Recognition Week in Pennsylvania. This acknowledgment highlights the critical role DSPs play in supporting individuals with disabilities and reinforces the importance of investing in and celebrating this essential workforce. RCPA members are encouraged to share their DSP Week activities on social media using the hashtag #DSPRW2026.
