RCPA has submitted its
response to the US Department of Health and Human Services Request for Comment on the Chronic Disease of Addiction.
In June, the US Department of Health and Human Services issued a
notice of Request for Information (RFI) seeking information on research, programs, and policies that have been successful in improving availability of and access to effective prevention, treatment, and recovery interventions for addiction, mental illness, and co-occurring substance use and mental disorders; as well as to recommend novel policy ideas and gaps in research that could be addressed and implemented to further the
Great American Recovery Initiative.
For this RFI, information was sought from the public, patients, people with lived experience of addiction and recovery, healthcare providers, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, policymakers, and others. Responses were due by July 5.
