Walking With Families: Supporting Children With AuDHD Through Grief
Tuesday, August 4, 2026
11:00 am – 12:00 pm
Speaker: Desirree T. Potts, EdM, Founder, DivEra Bots
Children with autism, ADHD, or combined AuDHD often experience grief in ways closely tied to relationships, routines, and a sense of safety within the family system. Loss may disrupt emotional regulation, communication, sleep, and behavior, leaving parents unsure how to respond while they are grieving themselves. Families frequently report feeling misunderstood or unsupported when traditional grief approaches do not align with their child’s needs.
This session focuses on family-centered strategies for supporting children with AuDHD through grief while strengthening the parent-child relationship. Participants will explore how grief may look different in neurodivergent children, how to coach parents in maintaining structure with compassion, and how providers can partner with families to reduce isolation, misinterpretation, and caregiver burnout across home, school, and community-based settings.

This workshop will describe the ways that individual employee wellness and resilience serve as the cornerstone of organizational health and effectiveness as well as research proven strategies for building a culture of resilience. Specific strategies discussed will include: building more gratitude into the culture; strengthening social connection between staff; celebrating good moments; and encouraging a growth mindset.
