In affirming that treatment works and recovery is possible, September is annually recognized as National Recovery Month. The month-long celebration is designed to educate Americans on mental health and substance use disorders, in addition to celebrating the work of individuals in recovery and providing support to affected families and patients.
Every organization, family member, employer, faith community, peer, and individual in recovery has a role to play in helping people build healthy, fulfilling lives. As such, SAMHSA has created a toolkit that includes messages, graphics, and promotional materials to use in ways that fit the needs of various audiences and channels.
At the state level, the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP) Recovery in the Grove is set for 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm on Tuesday, September 15, at Soldier’s Grove in Harrisburg. Recovery in the Grove is an opportunity for organizations, providers, advocates, and individuals in recovery to come together to celebrate Recovery Month.
