The recent Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2026 (CAA) includes important housing provisions that protect permanent supportive housing (PSH) and other forms of assistance for older adults at risk of or experiencing homelessness.
Over 170,000 people in PSH – most of whom are older adults and people with disabilities – were at risk of losing their homes under the Trump Administration’s plans to gut funding for PSH in the Continuum of Care (CoC) homeless assistance program. While threats to PSH are not over, the CAA’s housing provisions promote stability in CoC funding that will help PSH residents stay housed this year.
